In the early years of Gestalt, Justin Randall pitched Changing Ways to us at an informal meeting at Clancy’s Fish Pub in Applecross, Western Australia and we have had a great working relationship ever since. At the time, Randall was a Lecturer of illustration for the Department of Communication Design at Curtin University. Today, he is an award-winning internationally published graphic novelist and commercial artist.
Randall has garnered critical and popular acclaim for his art duties on 30 Days of Night: Eben & Stella, Silent Hill and contributions to anthologies such as Popbot, 24Seven, Character Sketches and Flinch. His publications list includes work for IDW, Gestalt, Image and Simon & Schuster among others.
The first volume of Randall’s creator-owned series, Changing Ways, was awarded the Aurealis Award for Best Illustrated Book/Graphic Novel. Book Two in the series was launched at San Diego Comic Con in 2012, and in a new direction for the series, Book Three’s chapters are being released digitally then compiled and published in a collected volume. Delcourt Editions has translated and published the French language editions of the first two Changing Ways books to date.
