Gestalt’s The Undertaker Morton Stone will be the focus of The Emerging Writer’s Festival event Graphic Content: An Evening of Visual Storytelling on Thursday, 31 October at the Museum of Old and New Art, Hobart.

Gary Chaloner will be there to speak about his story of Morton Stone, the strange and twisted creature, searching for the man who murdered his wife and daughter.

Chaloner’s story begins as Morton is released, customising a hearse for his needs he sets out with his dead and stuffed pet dog Cryptoe to track down the killer – a psychotic villain called ‘Mr Noddy’

Graphic novels are rapidly rising as the new storytelling form. And what better way to spend Halloween than by exploring the weird world of visual storytelling? These writers and comic artists will be projecting their new work and narrating strange stories for a night of horror and fun. Including a ghoulish Halloween-inspired DJ soundtrack.

The classic Morton Stone stories are the exquisite works of Gary Chaloner, Ben Templesmith and Ashley Wood, which are being reprinted for the first time.

The Undertaker Morton Stone #1 is being digitally released in October, with a print collection slated for 2014.

Entry to Graphic Content: An Evening of Visual Storytelling is free with a Digital Writers’ Conference Pass or individual tickets are available ($15 full/ $10 concession) from the Emerging Writers Festival website.
